Qualification :-

Four years Full Time Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from recognized university / Institute in the disciplines Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Instrumentation & Electronics and Computer Sc. & IT

Note :

1. All the above qualifications should be from the University / Institute recognized by UGC / AICTE.

2. General /OBC candidates having minimum aggregate of 60% marks and 55% in case of SC/ST are
eligible to apply.

3. Candidates who have passed their degree prior to 2011 need not apply but those candidates whose results
are expected by July 2013 can also apply.

4. The candidates who have training or job experience for a period of one year or more after attainment
of the above qualification shall be rejected.

Upper age limit :- 30 Years as on 1st July, 2013 .

Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST category and 3 years for OBC category not belonging
to creamy layer.

Training Period :- The duration of training will be one year.

Compensation

(a) During training, stipend and other benefits will be paid as per the Rules of IFFCO/ its subsidiaries/JVs.

(b) On successful completion of one year training and subject to our manpower requirement,
candidates may be appointed in suitable regular pay scales as per the Rules of IFFCO/ its subsidiaries/ JVs.

(c) The Trainees at the time of joining will have to furnish a bond, as per the rules.

Selection Procedure

Short listed candidates will be required to appear for Preliminary Online test in open environment. i.e they will use their own resource. Those who qualify this test will be required to appear for the Final Online Test in controlled environment i.e at the pre determined venues. Only those candidates who qualify the Final Online test will be called for personal interview.

CAT 2012 ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility: The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the candidates belonging to SC/ST/DA (it may also referred to as Persons with Disability (PwD) category)), awarded by any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions estd by an act of parliament or declared to be deemed as a university u/s 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the MHRD, Govt of India

The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor’s degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree

In case the candidates are awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of grades/CGPA to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the university/ institution from where they have obtained the bachelor’s degree

In case the university/institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100

Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply
How and when to apply for CAT 2012

The number of testing days this year has been increased to 21 days within the window from 11th October, 2012 to 06th November, 2012

The CAT vouchers will be available at selected Axis Bank branches from 30th July, 2012 to 17th September, 2012

Registration window will be open from 30th July, 2012 to 19th September, 2012
CAT 2012 Exam Pattern

Similar to the previous year, the CAT-2012 will have only two sections

The first section will focus on Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation; the second on Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning

These two sections will be implemented sequentially with separate time limits

The examination will be for 140 minutes

Candidates will have 70 minutes to answer 30 questions within each section which will have an on-screen countdown timer

Once the time ends for the first section, they will move to the second section and will no longer be able to go back

A 15 minute tutorial will be provided before the start of the test, and candidates are advised to go through that carefully before starting the main examination

The total duration will be two hours and 35 minutes including the tutorial

A practice test to provide candidates with a feel of the timed sections, as well as navigation and functionality of the actual test is available on the CAT website www.catiim.in

Candidates are advised to go though it carefully to familiarise themselves with the screens, layout, and navigation

If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if he/she submits a certificate latest by 30th June, 2013 from the Principal/Registrar of his/her College/Institute (issued on or before 30th June, 2013) stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate

IIMs may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process, the details of which are provided at the website www.catiim.in

Applicants should note that the mere fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for shortlisting by IIMs

Prospective candidates must maintain a valid and unique email account and a Tel number throughout the selection process

Reservations: As per the Govt of India requirements, 15% of the seats are reserved for SC and 7.5% for ST candidates, 27% of seats are reserved for OBC candidates belonging to the non-creamy layer (NC-OBC), 3% seats are reserved for Differently Abled (DA) candidates

Admission Process: Please note that each IIM shortlists candidates for second stage of selection which may be independent of each other

The process may include written ability test (WAT), group discussions (GD) and personal interviews (PI)

Performance in CAT-012 examination is an important component in the admission process

IIMs may use previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs in short listing and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process

The processes, academic cut offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs

CAT-2012 Vouchers: Before registering and scheduling for your test, you will need to purchase a CAT- 2012 voucher from any of the selected Axis Bank branches between 30th July, 2012, Monday, and 17th September, 2012, Monday

Please note that a candidate needs to buy only one CAT-2012 voucher irrespective of the number of institutes he/she is applying to

Note that the voucher must be bought only in the name of the candidate as it appears in the school leaving certificate

If the name has been changed due to events such as marriage, the candidate must show the relevant document such as a marriage certificate and submit a photocopy at the time of the test, interview and at the time of joining a programme

SC/ST candidates must show a copy of their SC/ST certificates at the time of obtaining the CAT-2012 voucher from the Axis Bank branches

Voucher once sold cannot be refunded under any circumstance including but not limited to loss of voucher, inability to read voucher number due to mishandling of the voucher by candidate, candidate being ineligible for taking CAT, CAT not being a pre-requisite for a programme, and rejection of candidate registration due to incomplete and/or wrong information

If the voucher is lost, voucher number is not readable due to mishandling of the voucher by candidate, and/or candidate thinks he/she has made mistakes in filling out information during the online registration, then the candidate can purchase a new voucher and re-register online

XLRI Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT)-2013

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) will be conducted on 06th January, 2013, Sunday

The test will be conducted by XLRI on behalf of the Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI)

The test score is used by more than 100 institutes

How to apply for XAT 2013

: A candidate can register for XAT through online payment using credit card/debit card for an amount of Rs 950/- (Rs 650/- for SC/ST candidates)

He/she then has to send the XAT confirmation page (that has to be downloaded after registering for XAT) to XAT office; or

Candidate can register for XAT through cash payment

After successfully completing the registration, the candidate has to download the XAT pay-in-slip

A non-refundable amount of Rs 950/- (Rs 650/- for SC/ST candidates) is to be tendered to the nearest branch of IDBI bank

The transaction number provided by the bank in the pay-in-slip has to be entered in the registration webpage and download the XAT confirmation page and send to XAT office, along with the XLRI’s copy of XAT pay-in-slip; or

A candidate can also register for XAT through demand draft

JMET - Joint Management Entrance Test by IITs :
The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have decided to do away with their decade-old entrance test for postgraduate management courses popularly know as JMET and adopt the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).The move will also ease pressure on aspirants, who are required to appear for an array of tests every year.

The six older IITs at Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Chennai and Roorkee have decided to scrap their own joint national management test (JMET) from next year. The six institutes run two-year, full-time postgraduate management programmes with an intake of about 600 students. The IIMs take in fewer than 3,000 students every year, but charge a substantially higher fee than the IITs.“Yes, we have decided to do away with our test and will accept CAT (common admission test),” confirmed Deveng V. Khakhar, director at IIT Bombay, ending months of speculation.The IIT national test is almost similar to CAT, “so there is no point duplicating exams”, he said.

The move has come at a time when the Union government has suggested reducing the number of national-level entrance tests of similar nature to ease the stress on candidates, reports livemint.com

Borrow a demand draft for Rs 1550/- from any Nationalize Bank in favour of Symbiosis Test Secretariat payable at Pune

Fill demand draft details in the demand draft payment option in SNAP website and take print out of payment advice form for demand draft and send it along with the demand draft to the Symbiosis Test Secretariat, Symbiosis International University, Gram Lavale, Tal Mulshi, Dist Pune-412115

The photocopy of the demand draft be kept for further references

Online Payment through Credit Card

The candidate may pay directly through either Master or Visa card online by following the instructions on the SNAP website after the registration

Online Payment through Net Banking

The candidate may transfer SNAP test fee to Symbiosis Test Secretariat account using Net Banking option too after the registration

The university will make the best efforts to send prospectus at the earliest possible time

Candidates are advised to contact the university for prospectus and any queries

The university and Symbiosis Test Secretariat will not be held responsible for non delivery or any delay on the part of courier/postal services

Admit Card: SNAP test admit card should be printed from the SNAP website

This will be operative from 03rd December, 2012 and will remain open till 16th December, 2012

Bring the admit card with the photo Id proof to the test centre

An acceptable photo identity is any one of the following; Passport, Driving license, College/Institute identity card, credit card with photograph, Voter ID card

2. Art Restoration

Nothing is permanent on this Earth. Time seems to overcome everything and with it all things deteriorate. In fact, this process of deterioration seems to set in as soon as an object is created. The natural process of deterioration has to be delayed certain cases especially in precious articles of artistic and aesthetic value. This process of retarding the deterioration of the product is termed as conservation. It is defined as one which concerns the preservation of the works of art, the control of their environment and their restoration. In conservation, the effort is to try and estimate the visible and not so visible effects of deterioration.

Remuneration

Since the price of the artifacts is very high, conservation requires rigorous effort and the handling charges are quite high. As a result, conservators are paid well depending upon the assignment. Through there are not too many permanent jobs but on an average, a conservator can earn a decent amount of money. Restoration is a limited enterprise and is mainly restricted to metros. Museums take care of their own collections, but hardly undertake any private assignments as they have their own permanent staff to do the job. But with more opportunities opening up, there are more and people especially girls, who are taking restoration as a full-time career.

3. Banking

Banking is an important economic activity in the country and the role of the banks is being redefined fast. After the liberalization policies came into play in the early nineties, the role of banks increased and their services have improved. Banks in any country are the backbone of its economy. Traditionally banks are known to mange wealth and their activities facilitate the basic economic processes of production, distribution and consumption. It is through their service charges and lending rates that banks earn profits for themselves and carry out their business. The numbers of services that banks provide have also increased like traveler’s cheque, finance projects, extend loans, small savings, credit facilities and encouragement to young entrepreneurs.

Remuneration

Banking career offers good remuneration and benefits. Approximate scales in various banks are:

Probationary officer up to Scale VI: Rs. 16,000 up to Rs. 32,000 per month with Rs. 1,200 increment per annum. Bank officers are also eligible for dearness allowance; house rant allowance; and city compensator allowance; salaries are higher in private sector and foreign banks. Most foreign banks offer the junior level executive a starting salary of about Rs five lakh per annum. Remuneration increases with seniority. Promotions are given according seniority and merit. Preference is given to officers who have passed the Indian Institute of Bankers examinations. In foreign banks promotion is based on merit, work experience, and personal drive.

The beauty business is very profitable business. Professional beauticians, hairdressers, manicurists and pedicurist earn decent salaries supplemented by commissions and generous tips from clients. The salary structure is based on the standing of the individual parlor you work in. Obviously a parlor established in a five-start hotel would offer more than what a modest neighborhood establishment would. This would vary from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 75,000 per month depending on your experience and expertise. For a salon owner, average earnings may be five to six times that of the actual overhead expenditure.

5. Chartered Financial Analyst

The economic liberalization has brought in lot many changes in the way business in India is being done. It has thrown open new avenues to Indian companies and many of them are becoming self reliant and looking at the global market for trade and commerce. The work of a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) in the new business environment, has assumed bigger role and they help Chartered Accountants in their work. Otherwise, CFA programme is a training programme for financial executives to upgrade their skills in corporate financial management, investment management and financial services.

Remuneration

An employer’s interest in ICFAI graduates is strong, with most students receiving offers for challenging professional positions with attractive salaries and perks. 6. Civil Aviation

Aeroplanes have brought the world closer, making it a global community. The aviation industry has been growing at a rapid pace. It is also one of the largest foreign exchange earning industries in the country with a promising future. Aviation is an important contribution factor in the country’s economic growth. Air travel, though expensive, has become very convenient. One can reach one’s destination within a short time and make use of the time gained in other activities. Today, more than ever before, larger numbers of people are traveling by air, either on business or for pleasure.

Remuneration

Junior or Assistant Level, or equivalent Rs 5,000 – 70,000, Manager, or equivalent: Rs. 72,000-120,000, Trainee Pilot: Rs. 60,000-85,000. Pilots are also entitled to a range of benefits and allowances in addition to housing, medial and out-station allowances as well as free / confessional air passage for their immediate family and dependents.

Private airlines offer a higher salary. The basis starting salary for pilots in the private airlines ranges between Rs. 80,000-1, 00,000 p.m. excluding allowances.

Air-Hostesses and Flight Pursers start on salaries between Rs. 60,000 -80,000 p.m. plus benefits. In the private sector, the range is over Rs. 55,000 p.m.

7. Civil Services

In India, It’s a dream job to become a civil servant. But due to tough competition only a handful can actually achieve it. It is the most prestigious job of the land and commands high respect in the society. The process of finally clearing the Civil Services examination is very cumbersome process and the prospective candidate has to slog a lot to clear all the three stages.

The Civil Services Examination is divided into three phases. The first is the Preliminary and is called as Prelims Examination, where objective type questions are being tested with choice of one optional paper. Section 383 A of the Companies Act, 1956 requires that any company with a paid up, capital of Rs. 50 lakh or more will have to appoint a whole time Company Secretary (CS) who is member of the Institute of Company Secretary of India (ICSI). However if the company has a paid-up share capital of less than Rs 50 lakh, an ICSI intermediate can be appointed as CS. 42. Pharmacy

Whenever you go to chemistry, you must be thinking as to how the drug was made and what chemical composition has gone into it. Infact, in pharmacy, one studies the origin of the drug and its various compositions. 44. Physiotherapy

India has achieved distinction in the field of Oceanography Technology. It has succeeded in collecting metallic nodules from the ocean floor, which only a few advanced countries could achieve. Only six other nations have nodule mining capability.

The oceans of the world cover about 70 percent of the area and are reservoirs of energy, minerals and sea food. The oceans play an important role in regulating the weather and climate. However, only a small fraction of the large resources of oceans have been tapped by our country. Recognizing the influence of the ocean on the land mass and its potential for providing rich resources for the benefit of mankind, the Government of India established the Department of Ocean Development in 1981. It pursues research and development actives in all branches of ocean science for use in subsequent technology development. The department was also given responsibility for conducting surveys for locating nonliving and living resources, for preservation, conservation and protection of the environment and marine resources, development of appropriate skills and manpower and for technical collaboration for exploration and scientific work. There are several disciplines in which the Department of Ocean Development is undertaking work. These areas include Antarctic programme, nonliving resources, underwater technology, acquisition of new research vessels and ship management, marine pollution research, remote sensing, living resources, manpower development, data collection and dissemination, energy from the sea, desalination, legal regime, use of marine research and development fund.
